Career in Banking

 

In school days, sometime we heard that a commerce student can only build up his career in banking, it is not like that. We come across many senior professionals in banking who don’t have commerce back ground. Student for any stream can enter into banking sector and flourish his/her career. In India, there are institutes who provide specialized courses for banking & financial institutions only like Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF), National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM).
 
 
 
Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF)
 
IIBF established in 1928 and previously it was known as The Indian Institute of Bankers (IIB). The main objective of IIBF is to develop professionally qualified and competent bankers and finance professionals.
 
Eligibility
After complete your 10+2 examination, you can easily enroll for ‘Diploma in Banking and Finance Examination’ from IIBF. And also other diploma and certificate courses are available for non-member (who is not a bank employee).

National Institute Of Bank Management
The Institute established in 1969 by the Reserve Bank of India, in consultation with the Government of India, as an autonomous apex institution, with the objective to produce the world-class bankers.
 
Eligibility
A graduate student who wants to build his/her career in banking and finance.
 
Courses
Full Time Two Year ‘Post-Graduate Programme in Banking and Finance (PGPBF)’.

Fee
 
Fee per year is INR 300,000 (approx.).
 
After successfully completion of PGPBF, you can get a job in renewed bank or financial institution through campus placement.
 
Bank PO
 
All nationalized banks recruit the Bank Probationary Officer (PO) and Bank Clerk time to time through Common Written Examination (CWE) which is organized by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). The eligibility criteria regarding age and education for PO and Clerk examination:
 
  • Age (for both) : Minimum 20 years and Maximum 28 years (relaxation in maximum age for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EXS as per current rules)
  • Minimum educational qualification for Clerk: Graduation and for PO: Graduation with 60%.
  • Literacy in Computer is mandatory for both roles. The candidate must have certificate in computer operation OR must have Computer Science/IT as a subject in school/college.
 
Also Bank recruits specialized officer as per the requirement but the experience in specialized field is often required to apply for these roles.
